Heat Exchanger

Transfer of heat from one fluid to another is an important operation for most of the chemical industries. The most common application of heat transfer is in designing of heat transfer equipment for exchanging heat from one fluid to another fluid. Such devices for efficient transfer of heat are generally called Heat Exchanger.

Amongst of all type of exchangers, shell and tube exchangers are most commonly used heat exchange equipment. Shell and tube heat exchangers consist of a series of tubes which contain fluid that must be either heated or cooled. A second fluid runs over the tubes that are being heated or cooled so that it can either provide the heat or absorb the heat required.

Common types of shell and tube exchangers are:

  • Fixed tube-sheet exchanger
  • Removable tube bundle
  • Floating-head exchanger
  • U-tube exchanger
Fixed tube-sheet exchanger (non-removable tube bundle): The simplest and cheapest type of shell and tube exchanger is with fixed tube sheet design. In this type of exchangers the tube sheet is welded to the shell and no relative movement between the shell and tube bundle is possible.
Removable tube bundle: Tube bundle may be removed for ease of cleaning and replacement. Removable tube bundle exchangers further can be categorized in floating head and U-tube exchanger
Floating-head exchanger: It consists of a stationery tube sheet which is clamped with the shell flange. At the opposite end of the bundle, the tubes may expand into a freely riding floating-head or floating tube sheet. A floating head cover is bolted to the tube sheet and the entire bundle can be removed for cleaning and inspection of the interior
U-tube exchanger: This type of exchangers consists of tubes which are bent in the form of a „U‟ and rolled back into the tube sheet. This means that it will omit some tubes at the centre of the tube bundle depending on the tube arrangement. The tubes can expand freely towards the “ U “bend end
  • Material of Construction

Our Low finned tubes heat exchanger are normally manufactured in Stainless Steel AISI 304/306 , depending upon the application. Other materials like SS304L , SS316L , copper , cupronickel and other special materials can also be offered.

  • Design

At peer fin tubes and engineering everything begins with designing the heat exchanger according to various standards including ASME sec VIII Div I, TEMA for our clients. Our design team makes it their mission to curate the designing to its epitome where the main focus is kept on increasing the efficiency of the heat transfer while keeping the equipment as compact as possible hence helping clients to save space and make it cost effective. Our design team prioritizes on increasing the efficiency of the heat exchanger with minimal pressure drop all thanks to our low fin tubes which helps us increasing the surface area of the medium coming in contact with the tubes for heat transfer i.e increasing the surface area by 2.8 – 3.5 times more than the regular plain tubes the specially designed low finned tubes at our workshop helps reducing thermal resistance which adds up to more efficiency.

  • Software

When it comes to check the design and its applicability we make use of HTRI the best in class to check the design with the help of simulation and optimize the design furthermore.
The mechanical calculations of Heat exchanger are verified with PV elite the most trust worthy software to give the detailed reports on the mechanical properties of the equipment.
After successfully running the design error free in both the software’s with the equipment performing at its penultimate state the design then goes to workshop for fabrication.
